Surveyor/400
The native AS/400 database, DB2/400, is a robust and proven relational database system. Unfortunately, it hasn’t always been easy to use or understand due to its cumbersome character-based interface. With Surveyor/400's modern graphical interface, you can now easily access and understand your DB2/400 information, as well as edit and export file data. Through the use of toolbars, buttons, pop-up menus and tab panels, Surveyor/400 is doing for DB2/400 what Windows did for DOS. Surveyor/400’s
interface is written in pure JAVA, meaning the product operates on Microsoft
Windows 95/98/NT or any OS installed with a compliant JAVA virtual machine,
including IBM’s new Network Station.

| Ease of Installation | Typically installs in a few minutes. | |
| No need for IBM's Client Access | Surveyor/400 connects directly to your AS/400 using TCP/IP, requiring no additional middleware. | |

The libraries can be expanded to show physicals, logicals, stored procedures, fields, members, journals, formats, triggers and RI constraints. | |
| Point and Click Interface | Move around quickly using toolbars, buttons, pop-up menus and tabs. | |
| Multitasking | Open multiple windows of information for convenience. | |
| Customizable GUI | Choose a look-and-feel of Windows, Motif, or Java Metal. | |
| Secure | View only authorized information, since Surveyor/400 utilizes IBM's security and standard APIs. | |
| Library Information | View a library's true size, attributes, authority, locks, physicals, logicals and stored procedures | |
