EdgeMagic - The Multiplatform RFID Control Solution
Stability. Security. Ease of integration. That's why we developed EdgeMagic as a multiplatform solution. Optimized to use IBM's DB2 database, EdgeMagic supports Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL databases, and runs on WebSphere™, WebLogic™, or Tomcat™ application servers. Choose the platform that's best for you. Or your customers.
Overview
EdgeMagic™ is designed to manage your edge devices, commission, write, read, and verify your RFID tags and, most importantly, it can be easily integrated with major business applications such as SAP™, BPCS™, MAPICS™, and JDEdwards™. EdgeMagic lets you control RFID readers, bar code scanners, thermal and laser printers, light stacks, message boards, photo eyes and other devices directly from your MS Windows™, Linux™ or IBM Power System™ server. EdgeMagic is a 100% Java application that runs on IBM WebSphere™, BEA WebLogic™, or Apache Tomcat™ application servers. Optimized to use IBM's DB2 database, EdgeMagic supports Oracle™, Microsoft SQL Server™, and MySQL™ databases as well. Choose EdgeMagic to help you use RFID technology to track assets like totes or pallets, develop Pharma and ePedigree applications, and comply with EPC (Electronic Product Code) supply chain mandates.

General Features
A multi-platform solution for commissioning, writing, and reading RFID tags, EdgeMagic is designed to manage edge devices, encode and read RFID tags as a stand-alone aplication or can be easily integrated with ERP and WMS applications.
- EdgeMagic supports fixed and handheld RFID readers from Alien™, Intermec™, and Motorola™ and controls encoders, bar code scanners, light stacks, photoelectric eyes and sensors, diverters, message boards, magnetic lock mechanisms, printers, applicators, and other edge devices.
- EdgeMagic includes EPC Global Gen 2 SGTIN-96, SSCC-96, DOD-96, GRAI-96 and other RFID Tag commissioning. EdgeMagic lets you comply with EPC trading partner mandates and choose the RFID technology you need (such as LF, HF, or UHF tags) to develop closed loop systems without worrying about integrating different RFID products with your business applications.
- The included award-winning MarkMagic print engine supports RFID smart label printers, fixed encoders and printer applicators.
- EdgeMagic accepts ASCII and Hex data for flexible RFID Tag encoding.
- EdgeMagic runs on application servers such as IBM WebSphere or Apache Tomcat, and runs on Microsoft Windows, Linux, or IBM Power Systems servers.
- EdgeMagic wizards walk the user through the process of defining locations, read-based actions, and database updates.
- EdgeMagic is scalable. Start small and grow. It's like RFID on demand.
- Optional EdgeMagic Dashboards make it easy to visualize RFID tag data in context with your order, production, and sales data. You can analyze performance, spot trends, and act on the improved business intelligence because the RFID data is not on an island — it's an integral component of your ERP or WMS system.
- EdgeMagic provides you with the tools for extracting geospatial data from your RFID data (combined with your ERP and WMS data) to integrate with Google Maps and Google Earth.
- EdgeMagic includes a Geiger Counter function that runs on a mobile handheld terminal to lead the operator to the correct asset stored anywhere in the facility.
Benefits
EdgeMagic enables Windows, Linux, and IBM Power System customers to implement advanced, agile RFID applications without costly custom programming. This is the same philosophy CYBRA has built into award-winning MarkMagic. With the included EdgeMagic wizards you will be able to roll out multiple industrial strength RFID solutions with little effort. An initial EdgeMagic installation will take days, not several weeks or months to implement. With EdgeMagic, you'll see rapid ROI on your RFID investment.
RFID Application Development
Why invest in an EPC-only RFID solution? You'll find dozens of uses for RFID when you see how quickly and easily you can develop industrial-strength closed loop RFID applications with EdgeMagic. Track pallets, containers and work-in-process jobs. Or, tag and track assets, patients, or visitors. And, with support for 1D and 2D bar code scanners, you can replace outdated data collection applications and develop new automated procedures quickly and easily.
With EdgeMagic you can quickly and easily develop closed loop applications such as:
- WIP (work-in-process) tracking of tools, equipment, drums, totes, reusable containers, and other assets.
- Access control to secure areas in factories, data centers, government and healthcare facilities.
- Hospital patient and specimen tagging and tracking.
- Pharmaceutical package tagging and tracking.
- Theme park visitor tagging and tracking.
- RFID-enabled casino player cards and retailer loyalty cards to increase customer recognition and service.
- Fork and Lift Truck Vehicle tracking.
